Additive design and manufacturing systems laboratory (ADAMS lab) is pleased to announce the commissioning of its AI integrated CMT wire arc additive manufacturing system at the University of Alberta. This is a scalable system with integrated sensor fusion and digital twin capability to accelerate material discovery, WAAM process monitoring, and quality control research with the capability to run semi-supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms in-situ. With the addition of this system, ADAMS lab has now ongoing projects in both CNC WAAM, hybrid manufacturing, and robotic WAAM.
If you are an organization looking to accelerate your adoption of WAAM and interested in harnessing AI, and reinforcement learning for your projects, and increasing quality control and online monitoring of robotic and CNC WAAM, please reach out to the principal investigator Dr. Ahmed Qureshi for opportunities for collaboration on the research project.
This work has been made possible with the support of Alberta Innovates, and NSERC Canada for their research support. For a quick video demonstration of the system, please look at the link below, or reach out to Dr. Ahmed Qureshi for a lab visit.
